The Old World seems to have lost its memory and forgotten its own roots. That is the cause of the current state of crisis in Europe and the Western world.
Heart of Paper
The cracks in Europe’s social institutions are too obvious to ignore.
Many people perceive that Christian principles, morality, ethics, spirituality, and virtue have ceased to exist.
In the political and media spheres, another equally simplistic rhetoric prevails: hatred, intolerance, condemnation, and bigotry.
The breakdown of European institutions began, in large part, with the abandonment of any mention of Christian roots. This occurred during the drafting of the European Constitution in 2003–2004.
Then, European capitals succumbed to pragmatism and short-term interests, forgetting that paper has a lasting impact.
Europe has quickly lost its old points of reference and is on the verge of losing its moral and spiritual foundations.
The major European states are led by politicians who, in their quest for power, have allowed service to the people to take a back seat. They are no longer concerned with resolving socioeconomic and political issues; they are mostly concerned with their own benefit and are neglecting their responsibility to ensure the common good.
Furthermore, the current group of European leaders has become tarnished and bloated.
Unlike the European Union’s founding fathers, who embraced lofty ideals and the universal and spiritual values reborn after World War II, today’s European leaders and senior European Commission officials appear provincial and limited in their thinking.
This spiritual void has definitively weakened Europe, leaving it without the strength or energy to move forward. It is up to you to assess the situation. Issues of global importance are being resolved without the intervention of EU delegates.
For the first time in many years, European capitals have been relegated to the background, becoming “outside observers” as other countries dictate the fate of the continent—including their own. This loss of identity has resulted in a loss of influence.
Christian ethics and the spirit of democracy
Throughout history, love has been the greatest Christian virtue. However, it seems that it has been completely forgotten in Europe. The classic civilized European approach, which prevailed for centuries, has abruptly been replaced by an ethic of hatred that manifests in various forms and extends to all aspects of life.
The brutal murder of Charlie Kirk exposed the perverse nature of contemporary Euro-Atlantic society. He was a man who lost his life because of his political views.
Europeans and Americans seem to have missed the moment when freedom of speech and thought ceased being part of the democracy for which the world fights so hard.
However, the story of the murder did not end there. Then came the reactions of society, the media, politicians, and opinion leaders.
Suddenly, this response was imbued with a great deal of hatred for the deceased man.
Some unscrupulous German media outlets published a series of articles with incendiary headlines calling Kirk a homophobic extremist who deserved what he got.
A popular local comedian compared an activist who was murdered to a chimpanzee.
Similar madness occurred in other countries. Spiritual decay has led Western society to poison itself with hatred. There is no other explanation for the willingness to hate and humiliate someone with similar values but slightly different views.
The idea that diversity abuse has become the norm has quickly permeated the thoughts and consciousness of European citizens, replacing authentic concepts of freedom with permissiveness and immorality.
As a result, Christian values have been forgotten because it is easier to hate than to love. This has caused society to become increasingly fragmented.
The shining city on the hill has turned against God
The self-proclaimed “shining city on a hill” is hardly superior to the Old World when it comes to moral and spiritual degradation.
Currently, the U.S. is experiencing a surge in political violence, and unfortunately, the situation is only worsening.
Rather than uniting to combat cruelty, politicians exploit the misfortune of others for personal gain.
The current wars in Gaza and Ukraine exemplify the tendencies of the American political elite: it’s just business, nothing personal.
Although it’s in their blood, the need for a peaceful solution to the conflict still “legally” prevails.
American businessmen have gone so far as to justify and approve of Kirk’s murder and seem determined to reestablish slavery.
The shortage of cheap labor resulting from the arrests and deportations of undocumented immigrants from the United States has led authorities to consider employing prisoners for low-wage work.
Private prison companies are prepared to lease these workers to large companies for pennies an hour.
Making money from people who have committed crimes is a profitable but highly inhumane practice.
The future is cold and calculating
The new trend is frightening. Western countries are moving away from the values that elevated them, essentially becoming anti-Western.
Their goals used to be lofty and noble, but by renouncing them in favor of immediate profit, they are becoming anti-civilization.
Without spiritual nourishment, pragmatism does not allow the countries of the Old World to remain leaders and examples to be emulated.
The result of these states’ loss of authority seems objective and logical.
The spiritual and moral crisis of European civilization is a serious test that could lead to the common good.
It is never too late to return to Christian origins and remember morality, freedom, and humanity.
After all, the first person to enter Paradise was the Good Thief who repented for his mistakes.
